Treat it. Kill the MIC and corrosion. Crisp-Ladew Fire Protection Co. chemically treats for MIC and corrosion with only environmentally friendly agents and methods.
Following the cleaning stage, each riser in the system is treated with a proprietary chemical treatment process. The initial treatment product is a surfactant blended product. All chemical treatment products are introduced into the sprinkler system. Once the cleaning treatment product is applied to each system, a soak time is necessary to ensure the cleaning agent has properly penetrated the existing bio film. The systems will then be drained to a sanitary sewer to flush the treated products and biological contamination from the systems. Specially trained Crisp-LaDew personnel administer the permanent treatment system. This system is designed specifically for fire protection system (FPS) treatments. Consistent control of the treatment products is critical to assuring the proper treatment of each system. During the treatment process, Crisp-LaDew personnel will complete titration testing at all drain points. This verifies that the proper concentration of products have been applied throughout each system. The purpose of this initial treatment is to remove the existing biological contaminants, scale and oils. Once the systems are properly drained, sterilant and corrosion inhibitor are fed simultaneously to each sprinkler system. The treated water then remains in the wet sprinkler systems. With its MIC and corrosion treatment, Crisp-LaDew includes the installation of corrosion coupons. Corrosion coupons ensure the performance of the treatment program. It is the most proven method of testing corrosion potential. The American Society of Corrosion Engineers has developed test method ASTM-G4-84 specifically for testing iron pipes in plants and buildings. Crisp-LaDew utilizes corrosion coupons before and after MIC and corrosion treatment to insure that the systems have been effectively treated.
